This year’s 4th of July Parade was not the first for FilAm of Idaho. However, what made this year’s parade extra special was the fact that we were able to put together a float and gather participants for the parade in less than 2 days of preparation. This year’s parade showed how much can be accomplished when teamwork / bayanihan is present. The 4th of July is not only a celebration of America’s independence. It is also a day to celebrate “Philippine’s & US’ Friendship Day. Our Asian and American friends also showed their support by participating in the parade with us. This year’s theme was “Let Freedom Ring”, and we were thankful for all of those who shared the sentiments with us in more ways than one. Thank you to all of those who participated in the parade, who cheered us on, who supported us, and those who fought for our freedom, and those who are still fighting to keep our freedom. Gemma Toth Interim President

Welcome Picnic: August 11, 2007 |
|
The Welcome Picnic was a huge success with over 150 people in attendance. There were many new Idahoans including Joy who’s only been in Idaho for 2 weeks and another Joy who’s only been in Idaho for 2 months. The feast featured Lechon and Halo Halo.
It was nice to see so many FilAm members become active again! New leaders were presented—Gemma Toth as the Interim President, Jimmy Lara as the Interim VP, and Edith Teves as the new member of the Board of Directors. The new membership/contact information were disseminated with majority of the newcomers signing up for membership and eager to become volunteers. David Nieto, our new member worked the sound system and Ruffy as the emcee surely entertained everyone with his singing ability and comedic style of entertainment.
